I am a mother of 6 young children ranging from age 12 down to 4 months.  I enjoy being a mother and wife.  It can be very challenging trying to keep up with 7 people and their different needs and also all of the responsibilities that go along with being a member of

the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  

I heard a talk given by Julie B. Beck talking about deliberate parenting and also about being "Mothers who know", like the mothers of the 2000 stripling warriors.  I believe this planner can help us reach that  goal by helping us to be more deliberate and in the know of what is happening in our own families and encouraging us to study out and seek things of a better in small and simple way.

I designed this planner with the LDS mother in mind (mostly myself) and all of the things I would like to stay on top and be deliberate in as a mother. This planner is unique because it has sections for Visiting Teaching, Teaching your children, Family Focus Section,  Family Mission Statement, The Family Proclamation and FHE Planners.  Many scripture references using all of the standard works and misc. quotes from church leaders.   I've included many blank boxes and sections to customize it to your own liking.  The boxes are small and not meant to cause pain in trying to do or say too much.  Often times it's the little things that we write down that we can focus on a little at a time to help us achieve our purposes and our desires.  I left out housework planning sheets because, while I think it's important to keep house, I didn't want it to crowd out what I felt were the essential things we as mothers need to focus on.  Besides, there is plenty of space you can jot down your chores in the weekly calendars.

Each CountDown Map is personalized with your missionaries name, photo and favorite scripture along with a flag and map of country or state where they are serving. How did Countdown Maps come to be?  When my first son went on his mission to the Dominican Republic, we wanted to find a way to think of him each day and we also wanted to keep all of his

younger brothers and sister involved as well.  I had seen other countdown charts, but wanted something more personal. So I created an image in the shape of the Dominican Republic and divided it into 730 boxes – one for each day while he was gone.  We posted this on the wall near the kitchen table and every day after morning prayer we would mark of the day.  In fact, the person who said the prayer got to mark for that day.  We had so much fun marking it off and noting his areas and companions that we wanted to also do it for our other children.  We also had requests from other people to make one for them when their missionaries left, and that is where this idea was born. 

 

 

We founded the company in 2012 and have seen an increasing desire from other people who are also looking for a fun way to remember and track their missionary along the way.  The maps we sell today are much more professional and personalized.  Each map has not only the grid, but a map key to help you know where you should be (in case you get off). It also has their name, picture, mission, flags, and a favorite scripture or quote. We create them for Elders, Sisters, and couples.

 

Currently we have two sons serving missions – one in Montana and one in Texas.  We have their maps proudly displayed on our kitchen wall and we mark the days as we keep them in our thoughts and prayers.

Many are Called but Few Can Cook!

I am a stay at home mother of three energetic little girls.  I love making new things whether it’s with fabric, vinyl, wood, paint or paper.

I’m not a Missionary Mom just yet, but our family works with our current missionaries as a ward mission leader, a ward missionary, and three junior ward missionaries.

I’ve been sewing for six years now with one of my first projects being an apron for my husband.  I had some leftover fabric and thought a matching apron for my 18 month old daughter would be adorable.  I quickly fell in love with making aprons for children. 

I opened up an Etsy shop at the end of 2009 selling my aprons for children and was excited to hear such positive feedback.  Spending time baking in the kitchen with my own daughters is a messy and enjoyable time for our family. 

When a family friend left on his mission to Ogden, Utah in 2011, our family enjoyed writing our first missionary. We sent him off with two random, but useful gifts: a humorous, homemade cookbook and a collapsible laundry basket.

For Christmas, I thought a custom apron that looked like a white dress shirt and tie would be the perfect gift for our missionary.  We added an embroidered Elder badge and a few extra recipes for his cookbook to complete the package. He wore his apron all the time and loved the cookbook so much that he encouraged us to share it with other missionaries.

 

A few years later, we set out to publish our Missionary-Minded cookbook entitled Many Are Called, But Few Can Cook which we dedicated to the wonderful missionaries serving around the world: past, present, and future.

 

 

 I love missionary work and love making unique gifts that bring smiles to others.

We are so excited to announce the GRAND OPENING of the brand new, Missionary Momma Mall!!

It has been almost exactly a year since this whole crazy Missionary Momma adventure began.  Wow, what a year it has been!  So much has come from that one bright little spark of an idea!  (Thank you Heidi for heeding that prompting, you're awesome!)  We have grown from a few like minded moms to over 6,000 strong!  It has been exciting to make so many new friends and get to share in your joys and sorrows.   We are all different, yet united in our love for missionaries.

There are so many talented moms out there.  You do AMAZING things!  The creativity and originality present in this group is impressive!  When one of us has a question, someone ALWAYS has an answer!  When someone needs help, there is a Missionary Momma (or 2 or 200) ready, willing and able.  I don't think there is anything that collectively, this group can't do!  Mommas, you ROCK!

We DO hard things!

One of those seemingly hard things for a good many of us, comes in the form of that $400 monthly check (or $800, or $1200 for those of you with multiple missionaries serving at the same time - Dang - you are impressive!!).  Finding an extra $400 in the monthly budget is no easy task.  Many moms who previously stayed at home have gone back to work. Some of us who have always worked are scratching our heads as to how we can make more and still have time for all the other commitments in our life.  Some have become entrepreneurs and are now selling a product or a service to help meet financial obligations.

We have created the Missionary Momma Mall to help those moms who have products to sell.  Many of these moms already have websites, Etsy stores, etc, and are working hard to find their niche in the market place.  We are an avenue that helps them reach out to our vast group, and showcase their creativity directly to their best audience - other Missionary Mommas!

The fees involved are as follows:

1. $20 for the first 5 products advertised on the mall and $10 for each additional 5 products, per month.

2. The credit card processing service charges us 2.9% +.30 per transaction.  We simply pass this fee on to you and take no percentage of the sale. This amount will be deducted from each order prior to funds being sent to you. 

3. That's it!  Super Simple, Super Affordable!
